A year and a half has come and gone, and we find ourselves wondering where the time has gone. For fun, I just read our post for Ryan at the same age. Some similarities. Some things different. Some ahead. Some "behind." We're realizing that each little one is completely individual, while they share so many traits with their sibling.
Elise is starting to talk a lot! And sing. We're recently discovered the song, "What Dose the Fox Say?" She actually walks around the house trying to sing it (and does show-quality jazz hands to certain sections of the song.) She is a DANCER and a little mom to all her classmates and the babies at Milestones. Ryan and Elise spent last night chasing each other through the house for 45 minutes. They are developing their own rhythm of play and interaction. She is way more of a "lap-baby" than Ryan ever was. Thank goodness she's a bit more of a peanut than Ryan is (And now that I type peanut, I'm reminded to mention that we're waiting on the results of her allergy test :)
Ry has now migrated into size 6/7 clothes and looks long and lanky when you see him towering over counters or places he once used footstools to barely reach. I'm afraid our "Cali-speak" has rubbed off on him....he yelled out "Dude!" at a car that cut me off in traffic the other day. I was amazed at the language. And that he noticed the traffic!
Lots of pictures to share and good times to tell you about. Hope everyone is surviving the cold winter and staying warm. Happy half birthday to our baby girl!
Love to all,
Court, Max, Ryan + Elise
So what's the same? Our kids affinity for playing "bucket-head."
Ryan on the left. Elise on the right.
Elise rollin' on her trike while dialing her girls.
She loves saying "Ello" anytime a phone is within sight.
She's finally growing out of 12 month clothes as evident by her belly hanging out!
A warm cup of cocoa after a hard day of playing outside.
Elise has recently become attached to her two blankets and a few of her Jellycat friends. They are her little crew and come with her everywhere.
Dreaming of what she's going to build with the Magnatiles. We invested in a set for Christmas and it was he best money we've ever spent on a toy. Ryan (and now Elise) build amazing things. Hours of fun!
You can't see it, but $100 that she's reading Curious George Visits the Fire Station. Or Pete the Cat: Wheels on the Bus. Each gets read 10+ times a day. It seems she'll follow in Ryan's footsteps with a love for firetrucks.
Elise at Jester's Court.
Ryan and his boys taking a much needed break at Jester's Court for our friend's birthday party. It is THE place for parties these days.
Elise had no fear of anything the big kids do. After descending a 30 foot slide, she kept shouting "More.More.More." We broke the rules and gave her what she wanted, though my entrance bracelet read "Play Prohibited."
I feel like this is what Ry will look like when he's 17.
Not sure if he was checking himself out or the trains at Breton Village.
Nothing sweeter than when she sleeps, which she is getting better with. She is sleeping through the night about 1/2 the time and waking only once at 4am the other half. I'll take it!
We were proud Spartans as we cheered our team to a Rose Bowl victory!
Cutest Spartan on Earth!
We enjoyed the game at our house with some close friends and coaches.
Passing the long, very cold winter days by making Snow Ice Cream and trying to blow frozen bubbles since it was -25ยบ with the wind chill.
Elise hanging out with her favorite puppies.
Ryan and my dad at his model train show at MSU. Ryan was so excited to watch Papa's train pass the others on the track.
Elise is into buckets, bowls and hats on her head. All the time!
Cuddle Bugs in the midst of Ryan's ever-growing polar bear posse!
Ryan wanted to help daddy (who was at his Grad class all weekend) so he went out and shoveled the entire drive and walkway, for two days in a row.
He didn't even ask for allowance!
