Vacation started to feel a bit more like normal life once Max arrived on Tuesday. We split time between the beach and pool, even though it was colder than expected.
Since I'm behind the camera most of the time, I can attest that I did spend a lot of time in the pool, though I'm never as much of a novelty as Max is. No one has more fun with our little tadpoles than Max.
Elise got a lot more confident being in the water. Most of the time, getting her face wet is not an option, but having everyday exposure to the water got her much more comfortable, even out of our arms.
Ryan is now a fish. Not an olympic swimmer, but fully able to hold his own, even in the deep end. He loves wearing goggles and throwing the football around. We were fortunate to meet another family in the middle of the week (also from Michigan). Ryan made fast friends with their boys and their dad was just as apt to toss the ball around as Max. It's always great to meet vacation friends!
Horsing around. The 80º pool lessened the blow of the 60º wind. Though our last two days hit the 70's.
We spent as much time on the beach as we could, but the water and wind made it a bit chilly. That didn't stop the kid from shelling and playing in the sand. We just quickly learned not to grab the stinky shells...because the smell does not die!

Ryan was the most avid shell collector. Max and him looked for starfish in the surf since they couldn't be out in the water.
My little beachcombers!
