California Adventure: Day 6

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

Our final day in California was spent maximizing the very best California has to offer: water and sun! The kids didn't complain too much either :)

Our little beach bums loved every aspect of our California existance...which truly, felt just like our existence before we had kids. Except add diapers, binkies and significantly fewer cocktails.

We started our day at Cafe Elisa (The French spelling of Elise). This was my favorite coffee shop back in the day. A block from our house. Truly French pastries. And a fire pit. The weirdest part was that the same creepy, overly tanned, handle barred mustached cab driver STILL frequented the place. Can you imagine 11+ years of starting your day in the exact same way? We also spent time at the playground at the resort (which we had no idea existed until our last day!)

Again, we hit the beach, but Elise was more interested in sitting in the beach chair then being near the water. We chatted with our new buddies from Ithaca and Max taught Ryan to boogie board. Max even had time to ride a few waves of his own.

After lunch, we headed to the pool for a last splash before heading to Jay's Gourmet for the best seafood pasta ever made. Though you sit outdoors in a parking lot, it doesn't matter. The bread is that good. We wrapped up the last night with a bit of souvenir shopping (and chasing a mouse around a courtyard.) All in all, life began to take on a normality just as we had to pack up and take the 2,500 mile journey home.
